Terminology list

Adjustable Straps:
Straps inside the wig cap that allow the wearer to adjust the fit of the wig for better comfort and security.

Baby Hair:
Shorter hairs placed along the hairline to mimic the fine, delicate hairs found at the edge of the scalp, enhancing the natural appearance of the wig.

Bleached Knots:
A technique where the knots that attach the hair to the lace are bleached to make them less visible, creating a more natural scalp appearance.

Bleached Knots on Silk Base:
Though silk bases generally hide knots, some silk base closures still have bleached knots for an even more realistic appearance. This technique further minimizes the visibility of the knots where the hair is attached.

Cap Construction:
The design and materials used to make the base of the wig. Cap constructions vary and can include lace fronts, full lace, monofilament tops, and wefted caps.

Density:
Refers to the thickness or fullness of the wig’s hair. Wig densities can range from light to extra-heavy, depending on the desired look.

Double Drawn Hair:
Hair that has been processed to ensure all strands are of the same length, providing a fuller and thicker appearance from root to tip. Double drawn hair is often used in high-quality wigs to enhance volume and density.

European Hair:
High-quality human hair sourced from European donors, known for its soft texture and natural look. European hair can come in various styles and colors and is often used for custom wigs and toppers.

Fiber Blends:
Synthetic hair made from a combination of different types of fibers to achieve certain qualities, such as enhanced softness, durability, or the ability to hold curls better. Blends may include both Kanekalon and Toyokalon fibers.

French Lace:
A slightly thicker and more durable lace material compared to Swiss lace. While it may be slightly more visible, it offers increased durability, making it a popular choice for those seeking a balance between natural appearance and longevity.

HD Lace:
Also known as "high-definition" lace, this is an ultra-thin, nearly invisible lace material that blends seamlessly into the skin. HD lace is prized for its ability to create an undetectable hairline but is also more delicate than standard lace.

Heat-Resistant Synthetic Hair:
Synthetic hair that can withstand higher temperatures from styling tools, typically up to 160°C (320°F) or higher. This allows for limited heat styling, such as curling or straightening, without damaging the fibers.

Hybrid Cap:
A wig cap that combines both lace and silk elements. For instance, it might have a lace front for a natural hairline and a silk top for a realistic scalp appearance. This type of cap aims to offer the best of both worlds.

Kanekalon:
A popular type of synthetic fiber known for its softness, durability, and ability to hold styles well. Kanekalon is often used in wigs and hair extensions for its natural appearance and lightweight feel.

Lace Closure:
A small lace piece (usually 4x4 inches) used to close off a wig, especially for sew-ins or custom wig constructions. It’s typically placed at the crown of the head and can be parted in the middle or on the side.

Lace Front:
A wig with a sheer lace panel at the front that creates a natural-looking hairline. The lace is typically cut to fit the wearer’s forehead and is often glued down for a seamless look.

Lace Parting:
The area of the wig where the lace allows for a natural-looking part. Lace parting can be found on lace fronts, lace tops, and full lace wigs, allowing the hair to be parted freely within the lace area.

Lace Top:
A wig with lace only on the top portion of the cap. This allows for a natural-looking part but offers less versatility than a full lace wig.

Monofilament Cap:
A wig cap with a fine mesh material at the crown, allowing the hair to be parted in multiple directions. The monofilament material gives the appearance of hair growing from the scalp and offers a comfortable, breathable fit.

Natural Layers:
Refers to the slight layering that occurs in the final product due to the nature of the hair. This layering can enhance volume and texture but can also be customized for a different look at an additional cost.

Non-Heat-Resistant Synthetic Hair:
Synthetic hair that cannot be styled with heat. Attempting to use heat styling tools on this type of hair can cause it to melt or become damaged. Non-heat-resistant synthetic hair is typically less expensive and is often pre-styled.

Non-Remy Hair:
Unlike Remy hair, non-Remy hair is collected from various sources, and the cuticles are not aligned. This hair often undergoes chemical treatments to reduce tangling, but it tends to have a shorter lifespan and can be prone to matting over time.

Plucking:
A process where individual hairs are removed from the lace hairline to create a more natural, less dense look that mimics the appearance of a natural hairline.

Processed Remy Hair:
Remy hair that has been treated to achieve a certain color, texture, or style. While still maintaining the cuticle alignment, processed Remy hair might be less durable than virgin Remy hair due to the chemical treatments it has undergone.

Remy Hair:
Remy hair is high-quality human hair collected in a way that preserves the natural alignment of the hair cuticles. This means the hair strands all run in the same direction from root to tip, reducing tangling and matting.

Remy Hair Extensions:
Hair extensions made from Remy hair, offering a natural blend with the wearer’s own hair. These extensions are preferred for their smoothness, minimal shedding, and longevity.

Remy Hair Wigs:
Wigs made from Remy hair provide a highly realistic look and feel. They are more durable and less prone to tangling than wigs made from non-Remy hair, making them a popular choice for high-quality wig construction.

Single Drawn Hair:
Hair that includes strands of varying lengths, creating a more natural and layered look. While less full than double drawn hair, it is often used to achieve a more realistic and textured appearance.

Silk Base Closure:
A closure with a silk base instead of lace, offering the most natural scalp appearance. The silk base hides the knots and provides a smooth, realistic look, but it’s usually less breathable than lace.

Silk Top:
A wig cap feature where a layer of silk is placed underneath the lace, creating a scalp-like appearance. The silk conceals the knots, making the hair look as though it's growing directly from the scalp, offering a highly realistic look.

Slavic Hair:
A type of high-quality human hair known for its thickness and natural texture. Slavic hair is often used in custom wigs and is sought after for its durability and styling versatility.

Synthetic Hair:
Artificial hair made from man-made fibers, designed to mimic the look and feel of natural human hair. Synthetic hair is often more affordable than human hair and is available in a variety of colors and styles.

Synthetic Hair Care:
Specialized care routines designed for synthetic hair to maintain its quality and appearance. This includes using specific shampoos and conditioners formulated for synthetic fibers and avoiding heat styling unless the hair is heat-resistant.

Synthetic Hair Extensions:
Hair extensions made from synthetic fibers, available in various styles and colors. These extensions are typically more affordable than human hair extensions and are often used for temporary styling changes.

Toyokalon:
Another type of synthetic fiber, Toyokalon is finer and softer than Kanekalon. It is often used for wigs and extensions but is less durable than Kanekalon, making it suitable for less frequent wear.

Transparency Lace:

Virgin Remy Hair:
This refers to Remy hair that has never been chemically treated or processed, maintaining its natural texture and color. Virgin Remy hair is often considered the highest quality because it retains the hair's original strength, softness, and shine.

Weight and Density:
Refers to the thickness and amount of hair in a synthetic wig. Density can range from light to heavy, impacting the overall look and feel of the wig.

Wig Cap Construction:
The design of the wig cap can vary for synthetic wigs, including options like wefted caps, lace fronts, and full lace. The construction affects how the wig fits, breathes, and looks.

Wig Detangler:
A product specifically formulated to help detangle synthetic hair wigs without causing damage. It is designed to keep the fibers smooth and prevent frizz
